Dustin Poirier, Max Holloway agree to let Lil Wayne wrap ‘BMF’ title around winner’s waist at UFC 318

Rapper Lil Wayne is going to stay busy at UFC 318.

The New Orleans native was already scheduled to walk Dustin Poirier out to the octagon for his fight as he competes for the final time in his legendary career. Now it looks like he’ll be pulling double duty after Poirier and opponent Max Holloway both agreed on letting the multi-time Grammy winner wrap the “BMF” title around the waist of the winner of their fight on Saturday.

It’s become a bit of a tradition with the “baddest motherf*cker” championship after Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson put the belt around Jorge Masvidal’s waist after the title was first introduced. Since then UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman and Masvidal have both done the honor of putting the title on the winner of a “BMF” title fight.

“Let Weezy do it,” Poirier shouted when asked who he would like to put the belt on his waist if he’s victiorious on Saturday.

That got quite a loud ovation from the Louisiana crowd and even though Lil Wayne is going to be on the opposite side of the octagon with his opponent, Holloway gave his blessing as well.

“I’m not going to disagree with that,” Holloway said

So it appears Lil Wayne has the duty to put the title around the waist of the UFC 318 winner and that’s potentially just another item that Poirier could check off his bucket list for what is already a night he’ll never forget.

With the entire card built around his retirement fight, Poirier confessed that he’s blown away by the reaction he’s received in the days leading up to the final appearance of his legendary career and even he struggles to comprehend how he got here.

“My first fight in the UFC, I walked out to Wayne,” Poirier said. “My last fight he’s going to walk me out. That’s crazy. That just shows you if you chase your dreams, anything’s possible.”
