One of LeBron James’ best ever former teammates wants to see a little more.
Before they have even achieved anything, there has been debate over whether Luka Doncic is LeBron James‘ best ever teammate.
It’s a little too early for that yet, and now it is NBA Playoffs time, it’s time for the LeBron James and Luka Doncic combination to show up.
And through the start to the Lakers’ series with the Minnesota, the combination is yet to really ignite.
Luka Doncic has been impressive, scoring a combined 68 points in the two. LeBron James is yet to get going by his standards, 40 points across the two, having to do a little more defensive work for the sake of the team, to allow Doncic to do his thing.
Arguably LeBron’s best ever teammate, former Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade believes something is missing.
Former superstar Dwyane Wade believes LeBron James and Luka Doncic are missing some swagger, and have not been exerting their dominance.
Referring to Anthony Edwards coming in and out playing them both in Game 1 of the series between the LA Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves
Wade argues LeBron and Luka must leave the viewers and fans in doubt that they are unmistakably the best in the business.
He told his podcast: “I want to see them be the two baddest m……s on the planet together, I don’t want to see nobody be badder than you. It’s as simple as that.
“When I’m watching basketball and I see Luka and LeBron, if they lose, ok you can lose, but I want you too to be the two baddest m……s on the planet together.
“When your watching that game and you see Anthony Edwards be the baddest m….. on that court, I don’t like that.”
Dismissing Doncic’s impressive point totals, Wade claims it’s about the way the superstars carry themselves that can make the biggest difference.
“It ain’t just about points, it’s just sometimes about the way you walk, the way you talk, it’s about the way you get up after you fall, sometimes I need to see it.
“I didn’t see that, I saw them playing basketball. JJ said it, they came out with regular season energy.
“When you see LeBron in playoff mode, you be like ‘that’s the best player on the court, that’s the best player in the world’. Did I see that the other night?
“I need to see that from him and Luka, it’s the swagger, its the way you walk, the way you talk to people, it’s the whole thing.”
The LA Lakers improved to win Game 2 of the series, and his post-game interview was praised by former star Robert Horry, who saw signs of his focus.
“We got to come in with the same mindset that we have tonight, understand that it is a playoff game, no possessions we can take off, you got to play with energy and intensity and effort.
“If you not dog ass tired after this game, after any of these games, then you didn’t give it anything you had.”
The first game was a mess, with LeBron mocked for the way he was pleading with officials for calls, showing a degree of desperation.
Getting the win under their belt will have given them a big lift, and it won’t be a surprise to see LeBron James and Luka Doncic show their dominance at some stage – while on the other side, it’s been made clear the Timberwolves will put up a real fight.
