As The Friedkin Group set their sights on ending the summer transfer window with a flourish, Everton are now reportedly pushing to sign a versatile La Liga player.
Everton receive latest Dibling reply
The two players at the top of Everton’s immediate wishlist are Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Tyler Dibling. But whilst a deal to sign the former looks increasingly likely, with a medical set and agreement reached with Chelsea, a deal to sign Dibling has proved to be far more complicated thus far.
Southampton have been tough negotiators, rejecting both of Everton’s opening offers – including one that reached the £40m-mark – and have since reportedly told the Merseyside club that they’ll need to pay a package worth £50m to sign their young star this summer.
As a result, the Toffees have reportedly turned their focus towards alternative targets as things stand. As the transfer window enters the final few weeks, however, it must be said that time is running out for Friedkin to hand David Moyes the additions that he still requires.
The Everton boss admitted that it’s been a difficult summer for the club on the transfer front, telling reporters last week: “We’re not getting a lot of the deals done which we’re hoping to do, so we’re continually reassessing and moving on, while maybe things are not coming to fruition.
“We keep trying to get the best players we can, but we’re finding it quite difficult at the moment.”
Meanwhile, as rumours rumble on regarding attacking reinforcements, Everton still have the task of replacing Abdoulaye Doucoure, which one La Liga star could help tick off the list this summer.
Everton pushing to sign Juanlu Sanchez
According to The Boot Room’s Graeme Bailey, Everton are now pushing to sign Juanlu Sanchez from Sevilla this summer. The right-back, who can also play in centre-midfield and right-midfield, has a number of Premier League clubs chasing his signature, but it is Everton who are reportedly pushing ahead of clubs such as Wolverhampton Wanderers and Crystal Palace this month wiht Sevilla wanting £17m.
Whilst the Spaniard would provide cover at right-back, he could have the more important task of replacing Doucoure if he completes a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium in the coming weeks, with the pair classed as similar players by FBref.

When compared, it could even be argued that Sanchez would provide Moyes with a better option than Doucoure. The 21-year-old particularly stands out for how successfully he progresses play whilst also remaining combative out of possession, having won 3.56 tackles per 90 last season.
Described as a player with an “incredible present” by former Sevilla manager Xavier Garcia Pimienta, Sanchez would be an excellent addition for Everton and one who could kill two birds with one stone for Moyes this season.
