A tight battle is ongoing in the Western Conference with two teams trying to claim the sixth seed.
The Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves are on similar paths, both recently embarking on long winning streaks, that both came to abrupt ends on the same night.
There is little to split between them, with the Warriors 41-29 and the Timberwolves 40-31. The LA Clippers at 39-30 are right in the mix too.
The Warriors hold sixth place, and while there is some nervousness about the recent injury to Stephen Curry, they have made the league sit up and take notice.
One player taking note is on their competitors, who has identified Moses Moody as a key part of their recent success.
Amid the ongoing competitive battle between the two teams, Minnesota Timberwolves star Donte DiVincenzo is full of admiration for the Golden State Warriors recent form.
And while it has been largely attributed to the Jimmy Butler trade, who has had a galvanizing impact on the team and organization, DiVincenzo believes Moses Moody has played an integral part.
Speaking to The Young Man And The Three podcast, DiVincenzo said: “What’s unlocked them over there is Moses Moody.
“He’s playing really really well, and he’s playing off of Steph, he’s playing off of Dray and he’s playing off of Jimmy. Let me just fit in, let me just do exactly what I’m comfortable doing, and he’s had some really big games so far.”
Moses Moody was singled out for praise by Draymond Green following the Warriors win over the Raptors, despite scoring only four points.
On a tough shooting night the star’s defense helped the Warriors grind out a 117-114 win, amid the shock of losing Stephen Curry to injury.
Moses Moody was drafted in the first round in 2021, and became a NBA champion in his very first season with the Golden State Warriors.
While the team have not been able to climb back up the mountain since, they are making a strong run in the second half of the 2024-25 season.
The competitive nature of the Western Conference means that any slide in form could have an impact for the post-season, and Curry’s injury could be impactful.
That is why it is important that players like Moody, still only 22-years-old, continue to step up and play important roles for the team. DiVincenzo’s comments show he has earned the respect of his peers.
