Former NBA lottery pick shares when LeBron James made his ‘hit list’

LeBron James has maintained a fairly excellent image over the course of his career, but he has still managed to rub many people the wrong way.

Being the face of the league is by no means an easy task. However, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has gracefully handled that task for the better part of the last two decades. Despite rarely engaging in any scuffles, the King remains one of the most hated players in the league.

Rashad McCants’ post-NBA career as a co-host for Gilbert Arenas’ podcast has garnered him a platform to speak his mind. The former shooting guard is known for his vicious and unique takes on the NBA. McCants is a well-known critic of LBJ since joining Agent 0’s podcast.

While many may believe it’s an act to help Arenas’ positive points on the King, McCants recently revealed his hate for the Lakers star stems from his high school days.

“In 2001. Parade All-American, magazine. That _____ popped up out of nowhere in the magazine, I was like ‘Who the ___ is this _____?’,” McCants said. “It’s supposed to be me and all these _____, and this _____ popped up and they put him above me.

“I was like, ‘I need to know who this _____ is.’ And ever since then, he’s been on my hit list.”

While many players do not hit their stride until reaching college or the NBA, James was already a phenom during his high school days.

Keeping that in mind, it’s no surprise that McCants and other hoopers from LeBron’s generation have developed a sense of jealousy towards the 4x NBA champion.

The 2024-25 NBA season holds extreme importance for James. He will finally fulfill his lifelong dream of playing with his son, Bronny James on the same team.

The L-Train is coming off a season where he averaged 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 8.3 assists per game for the Lakers.

As a result, James remains the leader of the Lakers both on and off the court. The soon-to-be 40-year-old superstar already showcased his talent during Team USA’s Paris Olympics run.

If he can bring a similar level of aggressiveness and remain fit, James may finally add NBA title No. 5 to his tally and come one step closer to becoming the undisputed GOAT.
