The Houston Rockets have pulled off a game-changing trade for Kevin Durant.
Kevin Durant has been traded to the Houston Rockets, bringing an end to a two-year stint with the Phoenix Suns.
The Rockets gave up Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks and the 10th overall pick in the 2025 Draft, to acquire the two-time NBA champion.
Durant adds much-needed experience and firepower to the Rockets, who were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.
Despite their early playoff exit, the Houston Rockets were one of the best teams in the NBA in the regular season, finishing as the two-seed.
Durant’s trade rubber-stamps them as a contender for 2025-26, and there is still room to further strengthen the team.
Giannis Antetokounmpo had a brief response on X, giving his verdict on the new look Rockets’ roster, writing: “Oh oh”.
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith wrote on X: “Damn Right! Love this for the @HoustonRockets. If you can believe it, @KDTrey5 at times looks better in his 30’s than he did in his 20’s.
“This is a title contender now. No question. H-Town is in the mix.”
Kevin Durant spent two seasons with the Phoenix Suns, which did not live up to the hype from a team perspective.
His desire to be traded came after the team attempted to trade him away midseason, making an offseason departure inevitable.

Data from Sofascore highlights Kevin Durant’s impressive scoring during his two years in Phoenix, where he averaged 26.8 points per game.
Durant played 145 games across two seasons, averaging 36.7 minutes per game, where he scored 52.7 percent from the field.
The Rockets are getting an elite scorer, and while he is 36-years-old, he is exactly what Houston needs to reach the next level, and put more fear in their opponents.
