Last night’s win is the cherry on top of what has been an incredible turnaround for the Bucks. Doc Rivers’ squad started the season terribly, going 2-8 in their first 10 games.

Since then, they’ve been on fire, going 12-3 in the games counted for the regular season, and 14-3 including the semis and finals of the NBA Cup.

There are several factors behind this amazing run of form. One person has gotten a lot of the credit, and surprisingly, it’s not Giannis Antetokounmpo.

That isn’t to say Giannis hasn’t been great. In the last 17 games, Antetokunmpo has averaged 33.0 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 6.5 assists.

Damian Lillard hasn’t been a slouch either, averaging 25.4 points, 7.6 assists, and 4.3 rebounds. The two superstars have been carrying the team during this hot streak.

After their NBA Cup win, Giannis Antetokounmpo spoke to the press. He noted how happy he was for Damian Lillard’s first NBA trophy. He added that this is just the beginning for their time together as a duo.

“I’m very happy for Dame. We got our first trophy together. And this is just the beginning.

“We gotta keep on improving, keep getting better. We will be better.”

Antetokounmpo seemed earnestly happy for his teammate. To see him speak so kindly about Lillard shows their bond, not just as teammates, but as friends.

Fans of the Milwaukee Bucks will hope that they can carry this momentum forward for the rest of the season.

The Bucks landed Damian Lillard to win the NBA championship once again. And with the duo of Lillard and Antetokounmpo playing this way, they have to be considered one of the favorites come playoff time.
