Giannis Antetokounmpo praises Milwaukee Bucks teammate who defended for his life vs Pacers, ‘I love him as a player’

The Milwaukee Bucks got an important win back against the Indiana Pacers.

There is an interesting battle taking place down the stretch in the Eastern Conference, with the Milwaukee Bucks and Indiana Pacers competing to finish the season as the fourth seed.

The Bucks won the contest on March 15, triumphing 126-119, getting some revenge for Tyrese Haliburton’s late game winner between the two teams days earlier.

As has become expected, Giannis Antetokounmpo led the scoring for the Bucks, scoring 34 points. But this was a complete team performance.

Following the previous loss to the Pacers, Taurean Prince blamed himself for Haliburton’s dramatic late winner.

And he took it personally, coming out hot in the latest match-up between the two teams.

Taurean Prince had five steals in the win, with four of them coming in the first half. He produced an effective performance offensively too.

Prince scored 14 points, going 4-6 from the field and 4-4 from the free throw line. He also had three rebounds, one assist, and at the other end of the court, one block.

Speaking post-game, Giannis Antetokounmpo told reporters: “First of all, I love TP as a competitor. I love him as a player. He knows how to play the game, and he’s basketball player.

“At times he’s gonna defend his butt off. At times he’s gonna space the floor and knock down shots,, or at times go make plays for him, or for another open teammate. But he’s not scared of the moment.

“He showed it tonight. He showed it in the past. He showed it in the NBA cup. Like he’s not scared of the moment. And I think we have a lot of players like that in our team. We can talk we can talk about TP all night long.”

After getting started with praise for Taurean Prince, Giannis Antetokounmpo carried on with kind words for more of his Bucks teammates.

These comments show the respect Giannis has for the rest of the team, making clear it is not just about his scoring and Damian Lillard’s.

He said: “We can talk about GT [Gary Trent] all night. We can talk about Kevin Porter Jr all night long. We can talk about Bobby [Portis]. We have guys, and they’re not scared of the moment.

“AJ Green is not scared of the moment to come in and then know the role, it’s gonna be nice to go knock down shots, another night gonna have an offensive assignment, and they got to guard for 48 minutes, but I’m just happy that we have guys like that.

“If I leave the game or Dame leaves the game, they gonna keep on playing hard, keep on making something happen. They are gonna keep on giving us extra possession, like Jericho [Sims] going for every offensive rebound, every defensive rebound.

“We need guys like that in order for you to be a good basketball team.”

Coming out of the win against the Pacers the Bucks are 38-28, heading into a home showdown with the Oklahoma City Thunder, a chance to get a statement win.
