Austin Reaves’ agent had some ominous words for the Lakers fanbase and organization over recent rumors about his future.
Austin Reaves‘ future has been a huge talking point for the Los Angeles Lakers. The young point guard might not be long for Tinseltown.
Reaves played a huge role for the Lakers this season, acting as their third option. However, Reaves seemed to underperform in the playoffs, and many criticized him.
But there is no denying just how well Reaves played. Now, heading into his final season, he has a big decision to make about his future.
Reaves can only earn $89.2 million from his next Lakers contract. He can make more by entering the open market. But this might entice the Lakers to consider trading Reaves.

Taking to X, Austin Reaves’ agent, Aaron Reilly, issued what appeared to be a warning to the Lakers for considering trading him.
He warned of an unexpected outcome in Reaves’ upcoming free agency and said the Lakers would be responsible for trying to trade him for a second-string center.
“Next year is going to be a show. People really have no idea what’s to come. Keep putting him in trade rumors for second-string centers.”
Reilly’s comments come right after it was revealed the Lakers would only consider trading Reaves if there was a high-level center available on the market.

Reaves played brilliantly last season, averaging 20.2 points, 5.8 assists, and 4.5 rebounds. Behind LeBron James and Luka Doncic, he was the most potent offensive player for the Lakers.
Losing Reaves would be a massive blow for them, as they look to build their team around Luka Doncic going forward.
Doncic and Reaves work quite well together as a back-court pairing. The Lakers will have the next year to evaluate Reaves’ play to see if they want to pay extra to keep him.
The front office will have to make some moves to try and clear cap space to sign Reaves. But he might prove it worth their time.
