Houston Rockets have already indicated stance on De’Aaron Fox trade, he was tipped as ‘scary’ addition

One Western Conference franchise from Texas will not be involved in the De’Aaron Fox sweepstakes.

De’Aaron Fox has demanded a trade from the Sacramento Kings. The former All-Star guard wants to start fresh with another team.

A lot of teams have been mentioned as being interested. Unfortunately for their fans, Shams Charania explained why the Los Angeles Lakers won’t be his next team.

There are about five teams in the NBA that could realistically land De’Aaron Fox. This includes the San Antonio Spurs, who could pair him up with Victor Wembanyama.

NBA expert Tim Bontemps named the Houston Rockets as an ideal landing spot a month ago. But the latest reports suggest that will not be happening.

Marc Stein reported that the Houston Rockets will not enter the De’Aaron Fox sweepstakes. Despite Fox wanting to join the Rockets due to his history, the franchise will not be making a move for him.

“Houston is not expected to jump into the trade fray for Fox… despite Fox’s ties to the Houston area and reported interest in landing with the Rockets.”

Fox would presumably want to play for the Rockets due to his childhood ties. Despite being from Louisiana, Fox played high school basketball at Cypress Lakes in Katy, Texas, just a short drive away from Houston.

So to get the chance to play in Houston would have given him a homecoming. But the former Kentucky guard will have to look forward to playing elsewhere.

De’Aaron Fox has been having a very strong season this year. In 43 games, Fox has averaged 25.2 points, 6.2 assists, and 5.0 rebounds.

His ability to score and control the game ranks among the best of the best in the NBA. And any team in the league would love to have him.

But right now, with the trade landscape as volatile as it is, not a lot of teams are going to be able to pull the trigger.

On top of that, Fox’s desire to keep his cards close to the vest when it comes to his plans in free agency in 2026 doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence in prospective buyers.
