Houston Rockets split emerges over Kevin Durant, ‘aggressive’ Minnesota Timberwolves now lead race

It appears the Minnesota Timberwolves are closing in on Kevin Durant, as the Houston Rockets are still weighing options.

The Kevin Durant trade saga has really heated up over the last few days. The Phoenix Suns are working with the star’s management to find the best possible solution.

While Durant focuses his energy on trolling people on social media, several NBA teams are battling it out to land the former NBA champion.

Teams like the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks were briefly in the race. But a few days ago, we got news that the race was down to the Minnesota Timberwolves and Houston Rockets.

And the same source that delivered that report has now provided a massive update, one that is sure to elate one fan base and disappoint another.

According to X user Ary, who first reported the Timberwolves and Rockets being the front-runners, the Minnesota Timberwolves are looking like Kevin Durant’s future team.

In fact, they are aggressively pursuing a trade as things stand. As for the Houston Rockets, GM Rafael Stone is unsure about Durant’s effectiveness, while head coach Ime Udoka is pushing for the All-Star.

“The Minnesota Timberwolves are the most aggressive suitor for Kevin Durant. In Houston, Ime Udoka is driving interest in Durant, but there’s a difference in vision between Udoka and GM Rafael Stone.”

If the Timberwolves are set to land him, the Rockets must act fast, as they cannot let a star like Durant slip out of their fingers due to an internal conflict.

If Ary is on the money with this report once again, then this means we will see the pairing of Anthony Edwards and Kevin Durant on an NBA court next season.

The brief glimpse we saw of them together at the 2024 Olympics will excite fans. Durant actively mentored Edwards while they helped bring back gold for Team USA.

Edwards has previously admitted that Durant is his favorite player of all time. Now, he gets the chance to play with him on the same team.

Durant’s unselfishness makes him the perfect teammate for Edwards. And as a scorer, he can help mentor the young superstar on becoming a champion in the NBA.

Hopefully, any deal that has to happen can happen soon, as the frenzy surrounding Durant is starting to reach a fever pitch.
