‘I felt’… Houston Rockets star had eye-opening realisation after seeing his GOAT LeBron James

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is getting ready for his 23rd season in the NBA.

Considering the fact that LeBron James is in the twilight years of his career and continues to compete at an elite level is a noteworthy accomplishment.

With James having spent more than two decades in the NBA, it’s obvious that few players who once idolised the King now play against him.

This list includes none other than Houston Rockets star Alperen Sengun.

The 2024-25 NBA season was a breakout year for Sengun as he earned the first NBA All-Star selection of his career.

Sengun has obviously established himself as a key part of the Rockets‘ potential 2026 NBA Championship push.

But let’s take a step back, as Sengun recently spoke to Anadolu Agency about the impact of locking horns with James for the first time in his career.

“I felt it my freshman year playing with the Los Angeles Lakers when I was going up against LeBron James. I was sitting on the bench, and LeBron was in front of us.

“At that moment, I was like, ‘Wow. So we’re here. We’re playing against LeBron and everyone,” Sengun stated.

That’s not all, Sengun also mentioned he views James as the GOAT over Michael Jordan. This proves that the Rockets star is a longtime supporter of the Los Angeles Lakers star.

Even though Sengun recently finished his fourth year in the league, it’s hard for stars to forget some iconic moments at the start of their NBA career.

Speaking of which, Sengun shed light on his most surprising NBA moment of his career.

“There are some incredible memories. I dunked in a game. It was one of the best dunks I’ve ever done in my life.

“An offensive foul was called that didn’t happen, which is irrelevant. I’m like, ‘I wish it wasn’t an offensive foul,’” Sengun recalled.

Sengun will likely dunk hundreds of times throughout his NBA career, but he won’t forget the above-mentioned moment in a hurry.
