Apart from being one of the best guards in the NBA, Doncic is known for his on-court banter with his opponents. Keeping that in mind, it wasn’t a surprise when the European superstar clapped back at Mathurin for talking trash to him.

Mathurin was happy to get a chance to defend Doncic early in the season as it allowed him to get a taste of how it feels to defend one of the best basketball players in the league. Mathurin also shared his views on talking trash to Doncic.

“It was amazing. Going out there playing against two of the best players in the world, you don’t get to live that very often. I grew up watching Kyrie Irving,” Mathurin said.

“I’m gonna do what I do, talk crap and enjoy it. And we won the game so I got the last … I’m not trying to start anything, but it’s also a dream come true.”

Doncic responded: “He started talking ______ with one minute to go. I just said, ‘If you’re gonna talk ______, start early.’ You know how I do

The Pacers indeed finished the game with the upper hand. After all, Doncic and co. were delivered a 134-127 defeat at the hands of the Pacers.

The addition of Klay Thompson remains one of the biggest talking points for the media. So far, Thompson has done well to adjust to his new role. He is currently the third-scoring option for the Mavs behind the Doncic-Irving duo.
