Jalen Brunson makes ‘overconfident’ point about Knicks core after playoff elimination

Jalen Brunson isn’t rattled or upset by the Knicks’ loss in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

The New York Knicks lost Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals to the Indiana Pacers. Their season is now over, as they fall short of the NBA Finals.

Perhaps no player earned more criticism tonight than Josh Hart, who dropped just 6 points off the bench in the crucial game.

Jalen Brunson didn’t follow up his 32-point history-making outing in Game 5 very well, scoring just 19 points.

But how does the All-Star guard feel about the team’s future? Well, in his own words, he is ‘overconfident’ about them.

A reporter asked Jalen Brunson how confident he is about the Knicks’ core pieces making the right adjustments to find success next year.

With the Eastern Conference blown wide open next year, Brunson isn’t just confident the Knicks will get it right; he is overconfident.

“The most confidence. Overconfident. Seriously. There’s not an ounce of any type of doubt that I’m not confident in this group.”

Brunson is backing both the Knicks’ roster and their front office to help prepare the team to make another championship push.

There’s no doubt that this Knicks roster needs some improvements. While the star power is strong, their lack of depth came back to haunt them against the Pacers.

The problem for Leon Rose and the Knicks front office is that they have no assets to make moves. The Knicks pretty much emptied their war chest as part of the Mikal Bridges trade.

Now is the time for some tough decisions and some ingenuity. Some players will have to make way so that the Knicks can acquire assets and clear cap space for another big name.

How will the Knicks make that happen? Rose has rebuilt this franchise brilliantly during his time, so he has earned the trust of the organization.
