Jaren Jackson Jr. drops bold claim about the Memphis Grizzlies’ best team ever

In discussing two of the greatest Memphis Grizzlies teams of all time, Jaren Jackson Jr. confidently believes that his own squad stands as much superior.

Right in front of Zach Randolph and Tony Allen, Jackson Jr. dropped the bold claim that his 2021-22 team would dominate their Grit-n-Grind group.

“Y’all literally foul so much … I think you would do some good work out there for sure. But it’s going to be 4-1. Y’all gonna win one game,” Jackson Jr. confidently said in his appearance on the Out The Mud podcast, igniting a laugh for both Randolph and Allen.

“Maybe 4-2. But that’s it. 4-1 or 4-2.”

Contrary to the 2011-12, Allen might be particularly referring to his 2012-13 squad. That team led by Randolph, Allen, Marc Gasol, and Mike Conley powered the Grizzlies in winning 56 games and carving a Western Conference Finals finish – the first ever in the franchise’s history.

Meanwhile, Jackson’s 2021-22 group is considerably the most talented group that the Memphis organization has ever paraded. At that time, beyond Jackson Jr., the Grizzlies also featured Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, Dillon Brooks, and a significantly deep supporting cast from top to bottom.

That year, Jackson Jr. and the Grizzlies clinched 56 wins as well and made it to the West Semifinals.

The Grit-n-Grind team of the Grizzlies will always stand as one of the most iconic in the modern era. Although they didn’t win a championship during their time, their grinding play made them exciting to watch which terrorized their rivals from the ‘Lob City’ Los Angeles Clippers, San Antonio Spurs, and the Oklahoma City Thunder that was still being led by a young Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.

As much as they are considerably special, that 2012-13 team will still have a challenging time in dealing with the 2021-22 squad. By looking at the numbers, Jackson Jr. and Co. thrived on both ends of the floor and can produce massively with their stacked depth — which is completely overwhelming at the side of the Grit-n-Grind troop in a hypothetical seven-game series.

Regardless of the comparisons and what is truly the better team, both squads will always remain phenomenal and unforgettable in the eyes of every diehard Grizzlies fan.
