Kevin Durant will go down as one of the very best to ever grace a basketball court when he finally calls time on his career, but Jaren Jackson Jr has revealed the star is missing something.
Despite winning back-to-back NBA Championships with the Golden State Warriors in 2017 and 2018, the 36-year-old is struggling to help a Phoenix Suns side make it to the playoffs.
While Durant is still putting in starring performances which recently saw him secure 30,000 career points it appears his time with the Suns may be coming to an end.
His side recently lost 112-119 to Jackson Jr’s Memphis Grizzlies, and his opponent has said one thing he could adapt in his game.
Durant is never afraid to give his opinion on almost anything he is asked. He recently spoke out about his former teammate Draymond Green’s potential move to become an NBA coach.
He’s also used to taking his fair share of criticism and critique considering he is one of the biggest stars in the league.
Recently Durant was accused of tanking his career by NBA expert Colin Cowherd, so Jackson Jr’s comments will come as some light relief.
The Grizzlies star said: “He’s just not mysterious, like he’s in the field, like he’s in your face, he’ll say what he feels, and like a lot of the times I feel like your mystique will get you to be looked at, I guess, in a different tone.
“But like, if you really look, if you put the numbers out there, there’s just no possible way for him to be looked at as anything other than like one of the greatest to ever touch a basketball. He’s very technical. Everything he does is with a purpose.”
While things are looking precarious for a Suns team that has won just one of their last seven games, they are still in with a shot of climbing the Western Conference standings.
The Warriors were sat below the Suns recently but three wins in four have helped them to tenth. The addition of Jimmy Butler has helped them hugely but considering the Suns already possess a powerful group they have no reason not to do the same.
Most sides would love to possess the star quality of Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, they just need to all get on the same page.
The Suns sit with a 26-28 record but only narrowly trail the Warriors, Kings and Mavericks and with Booker’s playmaking abilities and Durant’s ability to be impactful at the rim, they can cause major problems for teams. It will all start with a much-needed win over the San Antonio Spurs.
