Jaylen Brown shed some light on his issues with Nike and why he has been making so many posts against them recently.
Jaylen Brown has been very open about his issues with Nike. Brown, who is signed to Adidas, has suggested an influence on recent basketball decisions.
The Finals MVP was excluded from the Team USA roster this summer. And Brown took the Olympics snub personally, calling Nike out several times.
For those unaware, Nike is the apparel partner of USA Basketball. And Brown has suggested his omission was somehow connected.

More recently, Brown went after Nike for a post he deemed childish. This came in the wake of the All-Star calling Giannis Antetokounmpo a child for his behavior in a game.
And last night, he gave more insight into the issue. Speaking in the post-game press conference, Brown said he was just standing up for himself after years of being passive.
“I’ve never said anything the majority of my career. I let people kind of create the narrative for me, I don’t talk, don’t smile. I let things be said.”
“This year, especially saying I’m not marketable and all different types of stuff, I think it’s fair for me to say something in return.”
While Brown is well within his right to defend himself, some have speculated that he is taking things too seriously.
But Brown, regardless of right or wrong, has had enough. And going forward, he will call out anyone who disrespects him.

Regardless of his issues with Nike, Brown is undoubtedly one of the best players in the league. Not only is he the reigning Finals MVP, but he is the best player for the reigning NBA champions.
Brown has shown that he can be the leader of a team. Many had pegged Jayson Tatum to be the number one option on the Celtics.
But in the last few years, Brown has arguably usurped him and taken the role for himself. And any success the team have will be through him.
This season, Brown is averaging 25.0 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.4 assists. If the Celtics continue their strong form, he could be considered an MVP candidate.
