Jayson Tatum speaks out impact Lakers have on NBA after Celtics win, ‘it’s an honor’

Jayson Tatum put on a terrific display for the Boston Celtics in their 111-101 win against the LA Lakers.

The 27-year-old stepped up for his side with 40 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists in 45 minutes of action.

His effort on both ends of the floor, propelled the reigning champions to a brilliant win against the in form Lakers who had won their last eight games.

Tatum picked up from where he left off as he has been playing some elite level basketball for the Celtics this season.

While scoring has always been easy for Tatum, this season he has stepped up and is averaging a career high in rebounds and assists for the Celtics.

After what was a statement win against the Lakers, Tatum was ecstatic about the result and gave his take on the new look Lakers vs Celtics rivalry.

Tatum has been a part of multiple Lakers vs Celtics games in his seven year NBA career.

However, this season it seems a lot more different because it is the first time in a while that both teams are loaded and look like championship contenders.

“It’s an honor, there’s a history and tradition.

“All the legends that wore these uniforms, that competed in these battles.

“NBA’s a better place when the Lakers and Celtics are good,” said Tatum in his walk-off interview.

Despite his talent, Tatum is one of the most disrespected stars in the league.

Since his arrival into the NBA, the six-time All-Star has played at a high level and helped the Celtics get into multiple Conference Finals and NBA Finals with Jaylen Brown on his side.

Once again this season, he has played a big part in the Celtics looking like championship contenders.

They are not the top seed in the East, but Joe Mazzula’s men have shown enough this season to prove to the world they could beat any side in the league.

A big reason behind that is Tatum’s performance in vital games for the team.

Just like his night against the Lakers, the young star has had multiple big games against teams like Philadelphia 76ers, Cleveland Cavaliers and the New York Knicks.

These are just a few teams who he has stepped up against, but despite doing everything in his power, Tatum has struggled to find a place in ‘Face of the NBA’ conversations.

However, he will be looking to keep all of this behind him and help his side win another championship as that would lift him up as one of the best players in the league.
