Jimmy Butler should be careful with the way he is handling his current situation.
The Miami Heat have suspended Jimmy Butler for two more games. This comes after he made a return to the hardwood following a seven-game suspension.
Evidently, the Heat’s trade saga with Butler should certainly be on the horizon. The trade deadline is just over a couple of weeks away and they could move on from the superstar forward to get rid of his locker room presence.
Butler has a preference in his trade destination, as it is no secret that he’d like to be a member of the Phoenix Suns. Whether he lands with his preferred club or not is in question, though the Heat will definitely make an extended effort to make a deal happen before the February 6 deadline.
However, while a trade might take place, Butler’s actions will leave a stain on his Miami tenure.
Butler was initially suspended because of his actions behind the scenes and how he was impacting the team. After returning to the floor with the team, albeit in subpar form, he was suspended for two more games, this time for missing a team flight.
The Heat forward is making sure to be petty and ensure he forces his way out of the club after having a damaged relationship with the front office.
Former NBA veteran Chandler Parsons recently took to “Run it Back” to talk about Butler’s actions and his situation with the Heat.
“I was once a petty player, too, where I did some things I ultimately regretted. This isn’t gonna end good for Jimmy Butler.
“The team is gonna win; the Miami Heat are gonna be around a lot longer than Jimmy Butler…he’s making a mockery of the whole situation,” Parsons explained.
The Heat have built a strong culture. While it didn’t end well for Butler, the team is consistently a hard-working, gritty team that re-tools and re-builds their squad often. As Parsons explains, the team will outlast the player.
“If I’m one of the 29 other teams, I’m scared ____less to trade for this dude, I don’t want any of these kind of distractions,” Parsons continued.
During a segment on First Take, Stephen A. Smith added: “Jimmy Butler, if you are watching, you are not helping yourself my brother… This is an extra level on top of unprofessional.”
While Butler is causing every bit of havoc on his potential way out of South Beach, there is some movement in Phoenix.
As the forward plans to find his way to the Suns, the club is making some lateral moves to try and position themselves to make a deal. There are some hurdles to be jumped, as Bradley Beal will have to waive his no-trade clause and the Suns are also looking to move Jusuf Nurkic.
The most recent update regarding the two sides is quite simple — the Suns made a trade to turn their 2031 first-round pick to three separate first-round picks to help them facilitate trades.
Phoenix is giving it their best shot to work a Butler trade, and the Heat will have to work with them to involve multiple teams to make everything work.
As Parsons explained, the Heat will remain a good basketball team, and making a positive move to bring in more production will only benefit them as they get rid of this distracting issue.
