JJ Redick’s emotional message to the Lakers over his future as he discusses impact of tragic Palisades fire

JJ Redick let slip his desires and ambitions with the Los Angeles Lakers while discussing the emotional impact of the L.A. fires.

JJ Redick has been a brilliant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers. The first-time coach has shown that he is a true mastermind in the sport of basketball.

Lakers fans are thrilled to have Redick as their coach over UConn Huskies honcho Dan Hurley, who was another candidate in the summer.

And Redick has shown no ego or hubris in his role as the Lakers coach. In fact, JJ is regularly consulting with Stan Van Gundy, his former coach.

After what was a devastating start to the year, JJ Redick spoke about the emotional impact the Palisades Wildfires had on him and gave fans an insight into how he feels to be the Lakers head coach.

In an interview with Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times, JJ Redick got emotional about the importance of community.

Seeing his house, along with several others’, burn down made Redick want to rebuild the entire community. He seemingly hinted at his desires for the future with the Lakers.

“The personal loss is one thing, and that’s hard. But it’s the loss of an entire community. That’s like the hardest part to process.”

“I’m hopeful that we can get this done in a timely fashion and have people back. We’re in it for the long haul. I would love to be the Lakers’ coach for the next 15-20 years. This is important to me.”

Redick is seemingly happy with his life on the Lakers, wanting to stay with the franchise for years to come.

The Los Angeles Lakers are having their best season in years right now. Sitting in the fourth seed with a 45-29 record, the Lakers will reach the playoffs directly for the first time since their 2020 title win.

The Lakers avoiding the play-in tournament is a massive deal, given that they’ve gone through the tournament three out of the last four seasons and missed the playoffs entirely in the one year they didn’t.

Redick deserves a lot of credit for the work that he has done with the franchise over the last year, as he has turned this very mediocre side into a legitimate title contender.

And with Luka Doncic, LeBron James, and Austin Reaves as his three best players, Redick will be confident about their chances at competing for a title.
