JJ Watt leads angry NBA fan reaction after Hakeem Olajuwon was denied entry to Houston Cougars’ celebration

NBA fans are furious after the Houston Cougars program disrespected NBA legend Hakeem Olajuwon.

It’s official that the 2025 NCAA Championship game will be played between the Houston Cougars and the Florida Gators.

So far, each program has had a phenomenal run in March Madness. Speaking of Houston, they had to overcome the NCAA title favorites, Duke Blue Devils in the Finals Four matchup.

While the Cougars registered a famous win, what the program did post the win didn’t sit well with NBA fans around the globe.

NBA legend Hakeem Olajuwon is one of the finest talents to ever wear a Cougar jersey in program history. Despite being away from the game of basketball for years, Hakeem still shows his never-ending support for the program.

Evidently, Olajuwon was present on the sidelines during the Cougars’ 70-67 win over Duke. However, the NBA legend was denied entry to the postgame celebrations by the team’s security team.

Of course, this made basketball fans angry, with NFL hero JJ Watt among those to weigh in on the situation.

The former Houston Texans star wrote: “C’mon Man. You let The Dream on the court. What are we doing here!”

He was backed, with one NBA fan blasting: “That dude should be fired.”

“Imagine not knowing who THE DREAM is…,” one fan stated.

“Oh no. Fire that guy,” one more fan made this demand.

A fan wrote jokingly: “Hakeem should have done one of his patented spin moves past the guy.”

“A true embarrassment. He’s the greatest athlete in the city of Houston’s history,” one fan responded.

All things considered, it was truly surprising to Olajuwon being treated this way. Sure, it was the players’ moment, but joining in the celebration wouldn’t have hurt anyone.

Before becoming The Dream that fans know and love today, Olajuwon already showed signs of his talent during his three-year stint with the University of Houston.

In three seasons, Olajuwon spearheaded the program to three straight Final Four appearances. In fact, he led them to two NCAA Championship games as well.

Sure, Hakeem didn’t win the NCAA title with Houston, but it is still a stacked resume for a college player. Speaking of his numbers, he averaged 13.3 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game over 100 contests.
