Joel Embiid complete season statistics for 2024-25 as Philadelphia 76ers announce season over for star

Joel Embiid’s 2024-25 season has come to an end, the Philadelphia 76ers have been announced.

A stop-start season for Joel Embiid has been more ‘stop’ than ‘start’. And now it really has come to an end.

The Philadelphia 76ers have announced Embiid’s season is over, releasing a statement confirmed he will miss the remainder of the year.

The team have been extremely disappointing, ranking 12th in the Eastern Conference, despite a big off-season acquisition of Paul George, who had been targeting a championship run.

The Philadelphia 76ers released a statement relating to Joel Embiid’s immediate future, ruling him out for the rest of 2024-25.

The statement read: “The Philadelphia 76ers and Joel Embiid have been consulting with top specialists regarding ongoing issues with his left knee.

“After further evaluation, it has been determined that he is medically unable to play and will miss the remainder of the season to focus on treatment and rehabilitation.

“We are working with medical experts to determine the exact treatment plan and will update media when we have more information.

“The team and specialists will continue working with Joel to ensure the best path forward for his long-term health and performance.”

Many NBA experts and fans had called for the team to shut Embiid down, while he had expressed frustration at being unable to recapture his previous form, and health.

It had previously been reported that Embiid could require another operation.

Joel Embiid played in only 19 of a possible 58 games for the Sixers during the 2024-25 season.

And during his appearances, he averaged 23.8 points per game, a dip on his career-best 34.7 ppg last season, in which he played 39 games.

Joel Embiid was playing way below the level he has previously shown to be capable of, and this was frustrating fans and even himself.

An inconsistent run in the team did not help, and has hurt the team too, lacking certainty and chemistry, leading to heavy criticism.

It is not impossible they make the playoffs and overtake the Bulls in the 10th seed, but at the time of the announcement the Sixers were on a nine-game losing streak.
