Jonathan Kuminga knows exactly what he wants to do in his NBA career, and it isn’t good news for Warriors fans.
The Golden State Warriors had a unique playoff run before losing to the Minnesota Timberwolves. In Round 1, they pushed the second-seeded Houston Rockets to seven games and closed them out.
But in Round 2, the Warriors lost Stephen Curry to injury, forcing Steve Kerr to consider Jonathan Kuminga, a player he hadn’t enjoyed using.
The young star, despite the Warriors’ losses, proved to be a great fit. In fact, Kuminga’s numbers show that Kerr made a mistake not using him.
While his comments about Kerr impressed Draymond Green for their maturity, it is no secret that Kuminga isn’t happy with his role. And it looks like his future with the team is clear.

In a report for The Athletic, Anthony Slater reported that re-signing Jonathan Kuminga is a priority for the Golden State Warriors.
However, the young star has ambitions of being an All-Star and does not want to accept a secondary role anymore.
“Kuminga, league sources said, still has visions of becoming an All-Star, not fitting into an ever-moving mid-tier rotation role.”
“He wants to be a featured player in an NBA offense and chase the 20-point-and-beyond dreams he’s spent his life chasing, and the last week of his fourth season tasting.”
Slater noted that he can’t guarantee an exit. And while his relationship with Steve Kerr can be reconciled, he does think that Kuminga is more likely to leave.

Jonathan Kuminga had a successful stint with the Golden State Warriors. He won a championship in his rookie season.
But at this point, he needs to prioritize his development and growth as a player. Unless there is a remarkable change on his end, Steve Kerr isn’t going to play him much.
As such, Kuminga must find a team where he can be a star and get regular minutes. Several rebuilding teams would love to land Kuminga and help develop his potential.
Of course, the Warriors could include some promises in their contract offer to Kuminga, but it’s highly unlikely that he will re-sign.
