Julius Randle drops verdict on relationship with former Knicks teammates, makes ‘quick’ admission about Minnesota trade

Julius Randle answers if he has talked to his former New York Knicks teammates during the 2025 NBA Playoffs.

The New York Knicks and the Minnesota Timberwolves engaged in a blockbuster trade ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season.

Julius Randle and Karl-Anthony Towns were the biggest pieces involved during the massive trade. Initially, most felt that the Knicks won the trade as KAT had an instant impact on the team.

Fast forward to now, both Randle and Towns are in the conference finals. In the process, Randle has changed the opinion of a plethora of NBA experts.

Considering Randle spent five seasons in New York, it’s obvious that he built a good relationship with his teammates on the Knicks.

Evidently, many have wondered if it was tough for the 3x NBA All-Star to adjust to his new life in Minnesota. Well, Randle answered that burning question during the postgame conference of Game 3 vs OKC Thunder.

“I got to Minnesota two days later. As soon as I got to Minnesota, I just drove around the area, ate some of the food, hung around with some of the coaches and players.

“Just embrace a fresh new start. It happened pretty quick, I was excited,” Randle said.

Upon being asked if he has talked to his former Knicks teammates, Randle stated: “Have I talked to them? I wouldn’t tell you if I did.”

Randle likely wants to avoid any controversy about being potentially in touch with his ex-teammates. So, sidestepping the question was the smart move by the Timberwolves star.

Randle has been on a sensational run during the 2025 postseason. He has continued that run into Game 1 of the WCF against the Thunder.

However, Randle had a terrible performance in Game 2 as he finished with just 6 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists while shooting 2-of-11 from the field.

Head coach Chris Finch had to deliver an important message to Randle after the underwhelming performance as the T-Wolves needed a win in Game 3.

Well, Finch’s message did the job as Randle contributed 24 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists in the 143-101 blowout win in Game 3.
