Trae Young is currently savoring a significant season of revelation.
The Atlanta Hawks superstar is in the midst of a career year that proves his case as one of the league’s brightest stars. Young, in his seventh season, is tallying 22.6 points with 12.2 huge assists per game which stands as the highest average on the said category this 2024-25 season.
Even though he is witnessing a lowly campaign as well in terms of scoring and efficiency which he simply acknowledged, no one can still deny the impact that Trae offers for the Hawks as their driving force. With his offensive talent and role as the team’s floor general, Atlanta occupies the No. 7 spot of the East (19-18) — just 2.5 games away from the fourth seed.
The Hawks’ Tuesday game against the Utah Jazz was just a clear representation of Young’s brilliance this 2024-25.
For 37 minutes of action, Young carried Atlanta on his back, dropping 24 points and 20 assists. As such, he delivered the most important part of the game — sinking a mind-boggling game-winning shot from halfcourt to seal the Hawks’ 124-121 dub in Salt Lake City.
From what Young had demonstrated performance and stats wise, Kendrick Perkins simply stamped a statement in an X post that glorifies the Hawks sensation.
While the majority of fans have their eyes and attention towards the likes of Stephen Curry, Luka Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Anthony Edwards this year, it’s kind of bewildering how Young is still being slept on at this stage of his career and stardom. As it is, the Hawks star remains as one of the most underrated players today.
We can only hope that Young will soon get the flowers he deserves for how he performs, impacts winning, and leads the Hawks.
