Kristaps Porzingis put up a monstrous performance for the Boston Celtics to see them past the Phoenix Suns.
When Kristaps Porzingis plays like he did against the Phoenix Suns, there is not a team in the NBA that can compare to the Boston Celtics.
Teammate Jaylen Brown described Kristaps Porzingis as ‘the key’ to their success in the post-season, after the Latvian put up 30 points against the Suns.
He also added that one of the strengths of the Celtics is their team unity and depth, and Porzingis used his post-game interview to praise another teammate.
Kristaps Porzingis spoke post-game to talk up veteran Al Horford, who continues to play a pivotal defensive role for the Celtics at the age of 39.
Horford played 26 minutes against the Suns, scoring 16 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and also providing 5 assists.
Quoted via Noa Dalzell, Porzingis had wholehearted praise for his veteran teammate, commenting: “Unreal man. Unbelievable, to be honest, to be one of the best defenders on our team at his age.
“The experience he has and how he can still slide his feet and got all the little tricks to hold his position himself, be able to switch out to anybody and sit down and guard is really like, special.”
Porzingis also had time for a little quip around Horford’s longevity, adding: “I think everybody would wish to have a career like, like, how to be still at this level what in his 30th year.”
Al Horford is actually playing more minutes per game for the Boston Celtics in 2024-25, than he did last season.
Horford is averaging 27.5 minutes per game, compared with 26.8 minutes last season.
The veteran’s impact has not had enough attention, with his size, know-how and leadership vital, and Horford has also offered some words of encouragement to Porzingis too.
Speaking earlier in the season, Horford urged his teammate to be more consistent on the defensive end, to add strength to the team at both ends of the court.
Porzingis recently missed time with a mystery illness but since his return he has looked unstoppable, and the Celtics’ latest scary showing even saw them put up 130 points with Jayson Tatum sidelined.
