Channing Frye explains why one of the LA Clippers or Denver Nuggets could register a 4-0 series win.
The Los Angeles Clippers vs Denver Nuggets‘ opening round series is expected to be full of fireworks as both sides have immense star power.
Moreover, both teams were inseparable during the regular season as they finished fourth and fifth in the Western Conference standings with a 50-32 record.
Despite that, former NBA player Channing Frye thinks that the LA Clippers have a shot at not only beating the Nuggets, but sweeping them in the first round.
Many expect this series to be as close as it can get. After all, the Nuggets and Clippers shared the regular-season series at two games apiece.
Even then, Frye believes the Clippers will sweep the Nuggets as he made a Boston Celtics statement to back his claim.
“Clippers sweep the Nuggets. What team has the least amount of ‘what ifs’? Every team has a ‘what if’, even Boston, ‘what if they go cold for a game’, ‘what if Porzingis, whatever.’
“The Clippers have one ‘what if’, ‘Can Kawhi stay healthy?’”
Even at 33 years old and battling through injuries throughout his Clippers stint, Kawhi has a huge impact on the team.
It was proven with his two-way performance against the Golden State Warriors, which helped the Clippers clinch the No. 5 seed in the West.
The former Cleveland Cavaliers player believes aside from the obvious concerns about Leonard’s fitness, the Clippers have done a great job in other departments.
“That’s their only ‘what if,’ they are cooking, they are well coached, they have great leadership, they have star power, they established themselves on the block.
“They are defensive minded, they are not afraid of the moment, and they are underdogs playing like this, there is no pressure.”
All things considered, it will be an exciting playoff series. Fans will also soon find out whether Frye’s Clippers prediction will come to fruition or not.
