Luka Doncic is already impacting the Los Angeles community since getting traded to the team in the middle of the season.
The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the most iconic teams in NBA history. Evidently, they have had numerous talented superstars don the iconic Purple and Gold jersey.
The most recent player to join the lineage of Lakers superstars was none other than Luka Doncic after the team traded for the former Dallas Mavericks star.
Although not long has passed since Luka was traded to the Lakers, the 26-year-old has been doing everything in his power to show support to the Los Angeles community.
Regardless of how many stars play for the Purple and Gold, hardly any player will come close to the legacy that Kobe Bryant built over his 20-year stint with the team.
Evidently, the streets of LA are filled with numerous Kobe murals. One specific mural in Downtown Los Angeles was apparently vandalized.
As a result, a GoFundMe page was started to repaint the iconic Kobe mural alongside his daughter Gigi Bryant. Doncic took notice and made a $5,000 donation to repaint the artwork.
In just a matter of a few weeks, the results are clear as the phenomenal mural was recently seen in all its glory.
The gesture hasn’t gone unnoticed by fans of the Lakers organization.
It’s one thing to help a team on the basketball court. Many stars have that ability, but not every player connects with the fanbase off the court.
Doncic’s $5,000 donation helped the 5x NBA All-Star achieve the latter.
“Thank you, Luka!” a fan wrote. While another added: “Y’all leave Kobe alone. Stop hating already.”
One fan demanded: “Give him a max contract extension for 10 years!”
“Luka Doncic you’re a real one!” a fourth Laker fan added.
“Classy move by Luka,” another fan stated.
While most fans appreciated Doncic’s kind gesture, as expected, many were angry at whoever destroyed the iconic mural in the first place.
