The Los Angeles Lakers vanquished the Dallas Mavericks tonight, in what was a highly anticipated game. It marked Luka Doncic‘s first game against the Mavericks since the controversial trade.
Doncic didn’t disappoint, although he had a quiet night on the scoring end. He still ended the night with a triple-double, putting up 19 points, 15 rebounds, and 11 assists.
LeBron James led the Lakers in scoring, with 27 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists. The 800-pound Lakers core led by Luka Doncic and LeBron James was a sight to see.
After the game, fans took to social media to give the Lakers their flowers, with LeBron James and Luka Doncic being the two biggest recipients.

Fans and analysts took to social media to wax lyrical about the Lakers. Kendrick Perkins was the first to give props to LeBron James and Luka Doncic, saying, “Yep. LeBron and Luka can and will work!!!”
“Highly recommend having LeBron James and Luka Doncic play for your team,” wrote an excited Lakers fan. Another fan wrote, “Luka-LeBron on offense… IQ off the charts.”
However, not everyone gave their nod of approval, with one fan being critical, saying, “Luka was very emotional. He needs to focus. LeBron saved him tonight.”
One Lakers fan expressed gratitude for the team, writing, “LeBron and Luka together is really unfair. Thanks, Nico.”
An enthusiastic Lakers fan made a bold declaration after the game, posting “Luka Doncic is the greatest European player ever in the NBA. Standing on that hill.”
Clearly, the enthusiasm among Lakers fans for the way their star duo played is off the charts. Both LeBron James and Luka Doncic had great games tonight.

During halftime, Luka Doncic spoke to the panel on TNT Sports. When asked about how it felt to play against his former team, Doncic was at a loss for words.
He couldn’t explain the feeling he experienced during the first half and struggled to identify what exactly it was.
“I don’t know how to explain it. I think the first quarter, second quarter, I don’t know what was happening. It was just different, I can’t even explain how I felt.”
Doncic must have felt conflicted coming into tonight’s game. While Luka is upset with the Mavericks organization, his former teammates had nothing to do with his trade.
All things considered, Doncic could have been better tonight. But given how closely the Mavericks guarded him, a triple-double is still very impressive.
