Lakers owner Jeanie Buss spoke about watching LeBron James lead the Los Angeles Lakers at 40 years of age.
LeBron James continues to defy Father Time. The 40-year-old superstar is still one of the best players in the NBA, despite his age.
James is currently averaging 25.0 points, 8.5 assists, and 8.2 rebounds this season. Even with these numbers, NBA legend Isiah Thomas feels LeBron isn’t getting the credit he deserves.
While he’s currently out with an injury, everyone expects him to make a return soon. LeBron could end a legendary streak if he doesn’t return before April 3rd.
But James hasn’t just been playing hard on the court. Something about his performance at Los Angeles Lakers practice has really shocked owner Jeanie Buss.

Jeanie Buss made an appearance on the ‘Games with Names’ podcast recently. When talking about having LeBron James as the cornerstone of the Lakers franchise, Buss waxed lyrical about the King.
She noted that James’ work ethic, hunger, and desire are second to none. Buss compared him to Kobe Bryant, and noted that even at 40, his speed and size make him a terrifying force of nature.
“Just watching him work. In practice, it doesn’t, it’s hard to comprehend what he does at his age. And that he’s still hungry for it and works hard. There’s no shortcuts for this guy.”
“[It’s Kobe-esque] but in a different way. His physique, he’s like a train. He’s so strong, you can’t stop him. If I saw him coming at me, I would scream. It would be so scary.”
LeBron James has taken very good care of his body for years, which has allowed him to play at the highest level well past the median age of NBA careers.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been absolutely phenomenal this season, thanks in large part to LeBron James. And ever since they landed Luka Doncic, James has looked reinvigorated.
It’s clear that the superstar’s hunger for a fifth championship has grown. At this point in his career, LeBron has nothing to prove to anyone. But he still has the desire to be the best.
A fifth championship would only further cement James’ legacy as one of, if not the greatest player in NBA history. On top of that, it would do the same for his legacy as a Lakers legend.
The City of Angels believes in the Lakers once again. And once the playoffs begin, Laker Nation will be there in droves to show their full support to James, Doncic, and the squad as they look to raise their 18th banner.
