LaVar Ball courtside comments have some Hornets fans believing Lonzo Ball trade could happen to join LaMelo

The Charlotte Hornets have prayed for times like this, they have one of the NBA’s top points scorer right now, LaMelo Ball.

Except they did not in their recent NBA Cup match-up, falling narrowly short against the New York Knicks, 99-98.

LaMelo Ball sustained an injury on the last play of the game in the 98-94 loss to Miami Heat. Hornets head coach Charles Lee said the situation was ‘unfortunate’.

Seen at the NBA Cup was Ball’s father LaVar Ball, who has a reputation for being outspoken.

He was seen on a courtside clip posted on X during the game after a missed shot: ““Don’t worry about help is coming, help is coming.”

Now the obvious takeaway from LaVar Ball’s comments would be that he is referring to his son who currently plays in Charlotte, suggesting he is going to make his comeback from injury soon.

LaMelo has been one of the top point scorers in the NBA this season so his return would be a big boost.

But some fans have taken it another way, suggesting that LaVar is referring to a potential trade he is trying to engineer, to bring other son Lonzo Ball to Charlotte.

One wrote on X: “Is LaVar Ball hinting that the Charlotte Hornets are going to trade for Lonzo Ball, or is he just indicating that LaMelo Ball will be back soon?”

Another added: “I think Lonzo coming,” and “nah he wont talk bout melo like that.”

“I’m all for it, a healthy Lonzo is lowkey a very good player, for not elite player money,” another responded.

“Lonzo & LaMelo on the same team? Run the reality show back,” added a fifth.

“Lonzo to Charlotte?!?! Fingers crossed,” another fan added, with another writing: “Lonzo and LaMelo ball hooping together in Charlotte would be dope for the culture!”

“The Lonzo rumors might not actually be completely baseless, LaVar been hanging around the team a lot,” another fan wrote.

While another posted: “Lonzo on the Hornets next jersey i’m getting.”

There is reason Hornets fans are getting a little carried away, for one, Lonzo Ball is actually healthy again.

He returned after a two year absence, and then recovered from a wrist injury to feature for the Chicago Bulls earlier this week.

But also added to the mix, the Bulls are ready to make trades, they want to make their roster younger, and stack up some picks.

Jake Fischer reports today that Lonzo Ball is among the players now available for trade, to free up some cap space on the Bulls roster.

Combine that with LaVar’s comments, and it’s no wonder the rumors have taken hold in Charlotte.

With both Ball brothers, it should be entertaining, and on court they could spark a good combination.
