The future of LeBron James has been a hot topic in recent weeks but it appears the LA Lakers star has made up his mind.
LeBron recently made his NBA return following some time away from the court which came amidst much talk of a potential trade to the Golden State Warriors.
However, it now appears this move has gone cold following the Warriors trade deal with the Brooklyn Nets for a struggling Dennis Schroder.
Since LeBron’s return, he has wasted no time in breaking another NBA record and the Lakers fans have certainly been happy with The Kings return.
After returning in the 116-110 win over the Memphis Grizzlies the Lakers have lost just once in the time LeBron has been on the court.
This upturn in results could have had an impact on deciding his NBA future.
Despite now being 40 years old the star quality of James has still not diminished, which still makes him a highly valuable trade asset.
Although he sat out of the latest 132-122 victory over the Sacramento Kings through illness, LeBron’s impact on the Lakers is still clear to see.
He top-scored for the side in the two previous games, scoring 31 against the Golden State Warriors and 28 against the Detroit Pistons.
It appears he may still have influence off the court as well with Skip Bayless explaining how LeBron never trusted D’Angelo Russell, who has now been traded to the Brooklyn Nets.
Despite the exit of Russell, it appears LeBron could be staying put. He was asked whether he plans on ending his career with the Lakers and told the media: “That is the plan. I came here to play the final stages of my career and finish it off here but I’m also not silly or too jaded to know the business of basketball.”
“I think my relationship with this organization speaks for itself and hopefully I don’t have to go anywhere before my career is over.”
Questions surrounding LeBron’s future years in the NBA have been spoken about increasingly over the last year or so, especially with the star’s mounting injury issues.
After his recent rest and recovery lay-off James explained how he felt ‘pretty good’ upon his return, but he is playing through an injury which he believes will plague him all season.
These injuries have called for many to question how many years the star still has in the game, asked by the media about when he will know it’s time to stop he said: “It won’t be because I can’t play this game at the highest level. To be honest, if I really wanted to I could play at the highest level for another five to seven years but I won’t do that.”
The star was also asked if he would think about a potential return if he did miss the game after retiring, his answer was categorical.
James said: “Oh no. I would miss the hell out of it for sure but I won’t return.”
