LeBron James knows the Los Angeles Lakers are struggling right now.
Last week, the LA Lakers had some brilliant victories and they even strung together a dominant winning streak.
However, the Purple and Gold have seemingly lost that flair following their back-to-back losses against the Denver Nuggets and the Phoenix Suns.
LeBron James addressed the team’s poor form and what the plan is to get back on top in the future.
After a 27-point blowout defeat at the hands of the Suns, the Lakers fell to a 10-7 record in the Western Conference. Considering the franchise had the same record after 17 games in the last season, not much has changed for the team under JJ Redick’s coaching after Darvin Ham’s departure.
James shared his views on the Lakers’ current form during the postgame conference. The 4x NBA champion also knows that things won’t change ‘overnight’ for the 17-time NBA champions.
“We are giving up too many points in the third (quarter) and we’re not scoring there. We’re not very good defensively or very good offensively the last couple of games,” James said, via Jovan Buha on YouTube.
He added: “We are a process-oriented team, you know. We understand it’s not going to happen overnight, so you know, you stay even keel. You never get too high and you never get too low.”
It’s clear that James, who is the oldest player in the league, knows what the Lakers need to do. Right now, the team lacks aggressiveness on both ends of the floor.
“It’s that simple. Obviously, you get, ‘What can you do better?’ You’re frustrated at times, obviously. But you never get frustrated with the process. It is what it is and you keep working on it,” James concluded.
Let’s see whether the Purple and Gold can get back in form following a 127-100 NBA Cup loss against the Suns.
James may be turning 40 years old soon, but the Lakers are as good as he plays. It has been proven a plethora of times during his seven-year stint with the team.
LBJ struggled to keep the ball under his control as he committed 5 costly turnovers in the 27-point defeat. It was an unacceptable performance from James and coach Redick will hope to see better from his star forward.
Overall, James finished the night with 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 10 assists with a 7-of-16 shooting performance. The Lakers are now the sixth seed in the Western Conference after being on the cusp of reaching the top spot a few days ago.
