LeBron James celebrated his 40th birthday in style, putting on a solid display despite the loss against his former team.
LeBron James just turned 40 years old on Monday, but you could never tell watching him play last night. Despite losing 122-110 to his former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, James was a key star for the Lakers.
In the game, James had 23 points, seven assists, and four rebounds. This performance might be an indicator that despite turning 40 years old, he is still one of the top players in the entire league.
The loss against the Cavaliers, unlike many other Lakers losses this season, isn’t a sign of their impending collapse. It just shows the gulf in quality between the two sides.

Fans take it for granted, but what LeBron James is doing is unparalleled. No player to reach 40 years of age has played at such a high level in the NBA.
But James has taken great care of his body throughout his career and is still able to do great things and perform at a high level.
In his 22nd season, he is still putting up All-Star numbers, averaging 23.4 points, 8.9 assists, and 7.7 rebounds.

With his 23-point performance, James made history once again. James is now only the 10th player to score 20+ points at the age of 40.
The last other player to achieve this is James’ former Miami Heat teammate Udonis Haslem, who did the same a few years ago.
James will surely have more 20+ points game this season, and will presumably break the record held by Vince Carter and Kareem-Abdul Jabbar for the most 20+ point games after turning 40.
