LeBron James jokes about his plans after turning 40, he’ll be ‘done’ after scoring one way

LeBron James sheds light on his plans after he turns 40 years old.

The Los Angeles Lakers are back on track after a difficult road trip as they are now on a three-game win streak following a solid victory vs. the Memphis Grizzlies.

Although it was a team effort, LeBron James shined brighter than any player on the court with his third consecutive triple-double for the Lakers.

He became the oldest player in NBA history to record three consecutive triple-doubles at age 39.

Be it on or off the court, King James never fails to grab the attention of his fans. Speaking of which, LBJ recently shared hilarious career plans once he hits the 40-year-old mark on December 30, 2024.

“I’m going to play until I’m 40,” James said. “Then after 40, I’m going to go all left hand until I’m 45. I’m going to score 5,000 points with my left hand.”

But what after that? Well, James joked, he could peacefully retire.

“Then I’ll be done.”

Well, it may sound like a joke to many, but James has the capabilities to back that claim.

Many are unaware but James is ambidextrous; he writes with his left hand and shoots the ball with his right hand.

Moreover, fans must have noticed that the LA Lakers superstar has never had an issue with passing the ball with either hand.

Following the 128-123 win over the Grizzlies, the Purple and Gold are in excellent form ahead of their 2024 NBA Cup group-stage matchup against the San Antonio Spurs.

James, who had 35 points, 12 rebounds, and 14 assists in the Wednesday night win, will be the key to the Lakers.

Apart from James, Anthony Davis continued his excellent play following a return from an eye injury, he had a dominant two-way performance to further bolster his MVP case.

To make things better, the likes of Austin Reaves, Dalton Knecht, and D’Angelo Russell have found their touch as well in recent games. All things considered, the Lakers should hold their own against the Spurs.

It’s one thing to joke about playing as a left-handed basketball player after turning 40, but truth be told, it’s hard to see the L-Train playing for more than a couple of years, at best.

The Lakers captain resonated with those thoughts in the postgame conference after the game.

“I don’t know. I’m not gonna play that much longer. If it’s 1 year, 2 years, whatever the case may be,” he revealed.

“I’m not playing until the wheels fall off. I’m not gonna be the guy that’s disrespecting the game,” James concluded.

Unlike many stars in the past, James wants to retire at his best. It’s understandable that even if his body is still able to play in the NBA, he may run out of the will to be a basketball player after 22 seasons.
