Liverpool advance in Kerkez talks

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have made contact with Bournemouth to discuss a potential transfer of Milos Kerkez. The talks between the clubs are advancing, while an agreement with the player’s representatives over personal terms is close, with the Hungary international keen on moving to Anfield.

At the age of 21, Kerkez is considered among the best left-backs in the Premier League. In 2024/25, he has made a total of 39 appearances for the Cherries, finding the back of the opposition net twice and setting up his teammates to do so six times. Bournemouth are believed to be looking for a fee of £45million for his services, with three years left on his contract.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has used both Andy Robertson, who is about to enter the final 12 months of contract, and Kostas Tsimikas, whose deal has two years left to run, on the left defensive flank this season, and neither has really impressed. It is obviously a position where Slot and the other decision makers at the club feel an upgrade in the form of a younger player is needed.

Meanwhile, the Premier League champions are expected to announce the €35million signing of Bayer Leverkusen wing-back Jeremie Frimpong in the coming days, even though Slot still seems reluctant to talk on the subject.
