Liverpool confident of Salah stay

Mohamed Salah, along with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, is approaching the end of his contract at Liverpool and the futures of all three players have been a subject of speculation for months.

Asked directly if there was any movement in the negotiations between Liverpool and Salah’s camp, The Athletic journalist David Ornstein said there was nothing new worth reporting on the matter, but he added that the Premier League leaders have been confident for some time about convincing the fantastic Egyptian to extent his Anfield stay.

The bottom line is, Salah wants to stay and continue playing for Liverpool, he is happy at the club and in the city. The figures defining his earnings and the length of the contract on offer (two years, as it stands), will have to be right from the 32-year-old’s point of view of course. Ornstein also claims he got firm denials from all sources when he checked rumours about Salah potentially leaving for Paris Saint-Germain or the Saudi Pro League.

Liverpool’s recent failures in the Champions League round of 16 and the Carabao Cup final are not expected have any impact here, just as they wouldn’t have impact had Arne Slot’s team prevailed on those occasions.
