In just his first two playoff games with the Lakers, Luka Doncic has made history with some incredible performances.
Luka Doncic helped the Los Angeles Lakers get a crucial Game 2 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Once again, he was the best player in the purple and gold.
Matt Barnes pointed out how the Lakers gave up too many fast-break points in Game 1. Well, tonight was a different story, as the Lakers were clinical.
Things were not easy, as the Timberwolves cut down what was a 22-point lead to single digits in the fourth quarter.
But Luka Doncic made some big plays down the stretch. And in doing so, made history for the Lakers that hadn’t been seen in 28 years.

Tonight, Luka Doncic scored 31 points against the Timberwolves. This marks his second consecutive 30+ point game with the Lakers in the playoffs, as he scored 37 in Game 1.
In fact, with his performance tonight, Doncic has matched a record last done by Shaquille O’Neal. He is only the third player behind Shaq and George Mikan to score 30+ points in his first two Lakers playoff games.
- George Mikan (1949)
- Shaquille O’Neal (1997)
- Luka Doncic (2025)
Given what Mikan and, more importantly, Shaq accomplished with the Lakers, fans will take this as a very good omen for his future with the team.
But while Luka’s 30-point performances are brilliant, fans will be happier with his outing tonight as it led to a win.

Make no mistake about it, Luka Doncic has been the Lakers’ best player across these first two games. In fact, Doncic matched another Lakers record in Game 1 despite the loss.
The Lakers need Luka to continue performing at this high level if they want to move on to the second round.
Doncic is currently averaging 34 points per game in this series. If he continues his scoring exploits, the Lakers will benefit massively.
If anything, the rest of the Lakers need to step up and match Doncic’s production level heading into the next few games.
