The entire basketball world is tuned in for the highly anticipated first game ever of Luka Doncic repping the purple and gold uniform.
After everyone was left disappointed that he didn’t make his perceived debut last weekend, the long, tiring wait is finally over as the NBA superstar is fully locked in to make his Los Angeles Lakers debut this Monday against the Utah Jazz.
The Lakers have tremendously prepared for this monumental event in their franchise’s history. Every seat of the Crypto.com Arena has an L.A. home uniform of Luka Doncic with No. 77 — a perfect treat by the organization for the Lakeshow fanbase to kickstart a new era that features the Slovenian phenom.
Out of millions of people, only 18,910 are considerably lucky that they’ll be able to watch Luka in person to make his debut for the Lakers.
And apparently, out of these numbers, Dirk Nowitzki intriguingly availed a seat for himself already.
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Dallas Mavericks legend is slated to attend the Los Angeles debut play of Doncic against Utah.
This serves as a standout gesture from Nowitzki for Doncic despite how things have unexpectedly happened around the Mavericks upon splitting up with their 25-year-old cornerstone just a week ago.
Ever since Doncic joined the Mavericks in 2018, he and Nowitzki instantly forged a strong bond and relationship both on and off the court. The German legend was compelled to finally retire from the game in the aftermath of the 2018-19 season knowing that Dallas is in the good hands of Doncic already on a long-term vision.
Upon learning that the Mavericks have dealt Doncic to the Lakers in a stunning mega deal that also featured Anthony Davis, Nowitzki’s X reaction went instantly viral.
Regardless of the colors and how painful it might be to see him leave the Mavericks, it’s cool to see that Nowitzki remains supportive about Doncic and in his new chapter with the Lakers.
