According to Marca, Luka Jovic has agreed to join AEK Athens as a free agent, following the expiration of his contract with AC Milan.
AEK and Jovic have reached an agreement over a two-year deal, and the Serbia international is due in Athens today (Monday) to undergo a medical before signing on the dotted line. Despite recent reports suggesting he was set to join Real Oviedo to work with compatriot Veljko Paunovic, that move was never considered likely.
Jovic enjoyed a good spell at Eintracht Frankfurt, which raised his market price and saw Real Madrid pay over €60million for his services in 2019, but he wasn’t able to do as well in the Spanish capital and was sent back to Eintracht on loan 18 months later. His contract with Real expired in 2022, and from there he went to Fiorentina as a free agent, before joining AC Milan the following year for as little as €500,000. Things didn’t work out much better at San Siro for the 27-year-old striker, with just 13 goals and two assists over 47 matches in all competitions for the Rossoneri.
Jovic has 11 goals to his name in 45 caps for Serbia.
