NBA legend Magic Johnson has offered his verdict on the Golden State Warriors’ latest win over the Houston Rockets.
The Golden State Warriors made the most of home advantage to take control of their series with the Houston Rockets, moving into a 2-1 lead.
The Warriors successfully negotiated Game 3 without the injured Jimmy Butler, winning 104-93.
Once again they relied on the brilliance of Stephen Curry, with the superstar producing a 36-7-9 performance, carrying the team to victory.
NBA legend Magic Johnson has deep rooted connections to the LA Lakers, but that did not prevent him from paying tribute to Stephen Curry’s performance.
Posting to X, Johnson paid tribute to Curry and teammate Buddy Hield, who embraced the task of stepping up to help.
“I loved watching Steph Curry last night! He was nothing short of amazing scoring 36 points and leading the Warriors to victory over the young Houston Rockets.
“Steph took charge with Butler out and put on a marvelous shooting display. Buddy Hield was huge scoring 17 points off the bench.”
At 37-years-old, Stephen Curry is still producing elite performances on the big stage, and his team are relying on him.
Butler is making progress towards a return after going out with an injury early in Game 2 of the series against the Rockets.
Hield, 32, has embraced his opportunity on the Warriors since joining the team as part of a six-team trade in July 2024.
His performances lately have been mixed, with fans wondering is less is more, after the team celebrated him playing in all 82 of the team’s regular season games.
He scored only 2 points in the series opener, and 5 in the second, so the way he elevated his performance to score five three-pointers and 17 markers overall, was perfectly timed.
