According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United intend to be pretty active in the upcoming January transfer window. They would like to sign a striker, preferring not to spend too much on that front, and they also feel they need a box-to-box midfielder. In that aspect, they’re closely monitoring the situation of Leon Goretzka at Bayern Munich.
But at this point, United are probably aware that signing the 29-year-old Germany international in January would require a lot of work, with Goretzka currently having no wish to leave the Allianz Arena this winter.
On the other hand, Goretzka obviously feels a lack of trust from Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany. He is yet to be named in the starting XI in any competition, and all of his eight appearances so far – four in the Bundesliga, three in the Champions League, and one in the DFB-Pokal – were made off the bench. His only goal came in the 9-2 rout of Dinamo Zagreb in mid-September.
