According to Teamtalk, Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi has chosen Liverpool as his next club, ahead of the likes of Chelsea and Newcastle. The fact that the Premier League champions have already strengthened their ranks by signing Jeremie Frimpong, Armin Pecsi, Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez indicates great ambition for the next couple of years.
The 24-year-old defender obviously feels he’s ready for the next step in his career. With his contract at Palace about to enter its final 12 months, he will not be signing a new one, and the South London club might be forced to come down significantly from their initial asking price of £70million.
With their hopes of concluding the deal successfully boosted by Guehi’s choice, Liverpool are believed to be preparing a £30million offer as a first attempt. Though Palace are likely to reject that bid, it is thought that they might be willing to accept one in the region of £40million during the summer, rather than risk losing their captain for free in 2026.
