Marc J. Spears suggests top-3 NBA Draft side could use pick to trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo

Marc J. Spears believes there is a top-3 NBA Draft Lottery side that will pull off a big move for Giannis Antetokounmpo.

With the NBA Draft Lottery now complete, we know which teams will get the chance to land their next franchise cornerstone.

In one of the most controversial lotteries in recent memory, the Dallas Mavericks jumped 10 spots with just 1.8% odds to land the first overall pick. The San Antonio Spurs jumped 6 spots to land the second.

Many fans are questioning whether the NBA Draft Lottery was rigged, given that most of the underperforming teams with the best odds didn’t get a high pick.

But what if one of the big teams chooses to forgo their lottery pick to land a win-now superstar? Marc J. Spears believes one team with a top-3 pick will do just that.

Speaking during an episode of NBA on ESPN, Marc J. Spears chimed in on the future of Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The insider believes that the San Antonio Spurs will give up their valuable number two pick in a package to land Giannis to pair him up with Victor Wembanyama, De’Aaron Fox, and Stephon Castle.

“I think he’s putting on a cowboy hat. He’s going to have a great big pair of margaritas and enjoy some tacos.

“I think the Spurs are going to explore it [a move for Giannis]. He and Wemby together? Come on, man.”

Landing a win-now superstar like Giannis would be a smart play, given how rapidly Wembanyama and Castle have developed. This is what a potential trade between the two sides could look like.

The Spurs have the right assets and young talent to trade for Antetokounmpo. The Bucks are in an unfortunate position right now.

They gave up all their assets and young stars in several trade deals over the last two years. Which is why they will look for an attractive package for Antetokounmpo.

If they can get some of the Spurs’ promising young core outside of Wembanyama and Castle, along with the number two pick and some future firsts, they will consider it.

But the Spurs have to decide whether Wembanyama, Castle, Fox and Giannis is a core four good enough to compete for an NBA championship next season.

Giannis is 30 years old and doesn’t have much time left in his championship window. So whatever move the Spurs make, it would have to be based on that timeline.
