Giannis Antetokounmpo to Miami Heat receives concerning verdict from former player Mario Chalmers.
Playing for the Miami Heat is often considered a dream come true for NBA superstars. For starters, the idea of playing in Miami is intriguing.
But more importantly, players and fans have heard countless stories about the ever-so-famous Heat culture.
As a result, many top-notch free agents and disgruntled stars are linked to the Heat. The same has been the case with Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The last three years haven’t been great for Antetokounmpo and the Bucks, there’s no denying that. With that said, Giannis is expected to leave the team that drafted him this summer.
Many teams have been proposed as potential destinations for the Greek Freak, including the Heat. Considering the Heat traded Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors after a major falling out, landing someone like Antetokounmpo has sent waves of happiness in the Heat fanbase.
However, a former member of the team, Mario Chalmers, is against the idea of Giannis getting traded to the Heat. He offered a Pat Riley-inspired reason behind his take on the Nightcap podcast.
“Everybody can’t play for Pat. I can see Giannis coming to Miami but I don’t think he will. I think he stays in Milwaukee, I think he stays. They going to figure out something,” Chalmers said.
He added: “If he go to Miami he not going to win there. I like Houston [Rockets], that’d be his best bet”
Playing under Riley is not an easy task, as seen in the case of both LeBron James and Butler. Chalmers also believes that the 2x NBA MVP has no chance of winning in Miami, even if he gets traded there.
While Chalmers initially claimed that the Bucks and Antetokounmpo would find a way to stay together, he quickly changed his opinion.
“I can say Miami, I’m not going to disagree. Him Bam [Adebayo] and Tyler Herro, that would be a better team,” Chalmers stated.
To be honest, there are simply too many unknown variables before predicting Giannis’ fit in Miami. For instance, playing the duo of Adebayo and Antetokounmpo could lead to a lack of space in the paint.
