Memphis Grizzlies fans react to Ja Morant’s pre-season injury scare, ‘needs to retire from dunking’

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant is currently participating in the Nike World Tour.

As part of the world tour, Ja Morant recently made a stop in Asia. As expected, the Memphis Grizzlies star attracted a huge crowd.

A key reason behind it is Morant’s explosive playing style, which is full of athletic, high-flying moves on the hardwood.

While there’s no doubt about Morant’s skills, the Grizzlies star has played in just 59 games during the last two seasons.

He has battled with multiple injuries. So, one would assume that the 25-year-old will proceed with care, especially during the offseason.

However, Morant nearly suffered a fatal injury during the Nike World Tour as he slipped during an attempted dunk.

Grizzlies fans were quick to react to the now-viral clip, which has gained thousands of views on X.

“Man, that could have been a torn ACL,” a fan wrote. While another added: “The whole franchise just flashed its eyes right now.”

“Bro really needs to retire from dunking,” a third fan added.

“Memphis is about to shut all this down,” a fourth fan stated.

“Almost lost Ja in the offseason,” a Grizzlies fan wrote.

With the rise in the number of torn Achilles and ACL injuries, athletes need to take better care of their bodies. If Morant had suffered a season-ending injury, the Grizzlies fanbase would have been in shambles.

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry recently claimed Morant is the most athletic player in the NBA right now.

Evidently, that’s due to Morant’s ability to finish difficult plays at the rim. However, dunking consistently can shorten a player’s longevity.

Fans have already witnessed that with the likes of Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook. Keeping that in mind, Morant seemingly announced a no-dunk policy last season.

But since then, there have been multiple instances when Morant has tried to throw down the hammer. The incident at the Nike World Tour was another example of that.
