Miami Heat star signs with NBA super agent who has strong ties to Boston Celtics ahead of 2026 free agency

One Miami Heat star might have his eyes on their rivals, the Boston Celtics, as he signs with a renowned super agent.

The Miami Heat have been relatively quiet when it comes to making moves this offseason. Despite needing to make some changes, Pat Riley has not done much.

The Heat wouldn’t give up Kel’el Ware to land Kevin Durant. As such, they wound up missing out on the former NBA champion, who went on to join the Houston Rockets.

The Heat realized Kevin Durant wouldn’t make them better, at least not enough to give up the assets they needed to make it happen.

Instead, Miami would trade for Norman Powell, landing him in a three-team trade with the LA Clippers and Utah Jazz.

But if Norman Powell’s latest business move is a sign of things to come, he might be a rental for the Miami Heat.

Norman Powell, now on the Miami Heat, has made some changes to his representation. Powell left the Wasserman agency to sign with Jason Glushon.

Glushon is a powerful NBA super agent, with several high-profile clients in the league. His list of clients is the third-largest among super agents at 11, only topped by Billy Duffy and Rich Paul.

Glushon’s clientele includes Jaylen Brown, Franz Wagner, Jrue Holiday, Sam Hauser, Donte DiVincenzo, and Duncan Robinson.

If you look closer at that list, you see that three of the clients – Brown, Holiday, and Hauser – have ties to the Boston Celtics.

In the last few years, Glushon has negotiated lucrative contracts for all three of them with the Boston Celtics, including Brown’s massive $300 million contract. Could this be a sign that Powell is looking to join the Celtics?

As things stand, Norman Powell hasn’t signed a contract extension with the Miami Heat. Perhaps his new agent is to help him negotiate a better long-term deal with the Heat.

Powell is coming off the best season of his career, as he put up All-Star numbers. Last season, he averaged 21.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists.

If Powell is seeking a huge payday, the Miami Heat might not be the team for him. Pat Riley is notoriously frugal and won’t give players huge contracts unless he feels they’ve earned it.

If this is the case, and the two sides can’t agree to a new deal, perhaps Riley might trade Norman Powell ahead of the trade deadline next February.
