Miesha Tate is back.
The former bantamweight champion is set to return to action for the first time in over a year when she clashes with Yana Santos at the upcoming UFC Fight Night event schedule on May 3 with Des Moines, Iowa as the rumored location for the card.
Tate initially announced the fight on social media with Santos also confirming the booking on Monday.
“It’s official: May 3rd vs Yana Santos,” Tate wrote. “I’ve still got what it takes and if you doubt me, please stick around. Mark your calendars.”
Santos responded with a simple message saying “see you soon.”
Since returning from a nearly five-year long retirement in 2021, Tate has experienced a few ups and downs, which included a very brief stay at flyweight for a single fight. Overall, Tate has gone 2-2 since returning to the UFC with her latest fight ending a submission win over Julia Avila back in December 2023.
Now Tate returns in May to face Santos, who got back on track with a win over her own this past August when she earned a unanimous decision win over Chelsea Chandler. That victory stopped a three-fight skid for Santos after falling to Karol Rosa, Holly Holm and Irene Aldana in consecutive fights.
The UFC hasn’t officially announced the event on May 3 nor the location, although if the promotion ends up landing Iowa that would be the first time the organization has gone there since UFC 26 back in 2000.
