Tyrese Haliburton recently became a hot topic following his achievement leading Indiana into the Eastern Conference Finals. The Pacers currently hold a 3-2 advantage over the New York Knicks.
Tyrese Haliburton continues delivering remarkable performances throughout the postseason. His consistency and clutch factor have elevated him into elite territory among NBA point guards.
In Game 4 against New York, for example, Haliburton recorded 32 points, 15 assists, and 12 rebounds without committing a single turnover.
He was the second player in NBA history to get a 30-point triple-double in the playoffs without losing the ball, after Baron Davis in 2002.
Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis recently praised Haliburton despite the rivalry between their teams. His acknowledgment transcends typical on-court competition between Eastern Conference opponents.
“I got to respect it. There’s a huge difference from not liking the team or not liking the person because of your own personal reasons, and then there’s a whole thing for respecting a guy’s talent for what it is and what he does to help his team win,” Portis said on Run It Back Podcast.
Portis compared Haliburton to point guard legend Chris Paul. “In that regard he’s a point god like Chris Paul, he controls the game in a different way, he makes it fun for his team to go out there and play,” he added.
The praise has become more interesting because Portis and the Bucks were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs this season by Haliburton and the Pacers.
The praise carries significant weight considering Haliburton leads all players in assists per game this postseason with 9.5. His court vision and playmaking ability have been instrumental in Indiana’s deep playoff run.
Portis believes Haliburton deserves greater recognition from the NBA community. “His team has a different level of belief behind him that kind of helps him be great. They got a hell of a team for real,” he stated.
“Keep it real this playoff run has for sure put him in another realm of player awareness. The shots he’s made, the comebacks he’s made,” Portis concluded. Haliburton’s blend of skill, leadership, and poise positions him as Indiana’s cornerstone for championship glory.
