Rudy Gobert had a terrible performance in the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Game 1 defeat.
On paper, the Oklahoma City Thunder are head and shoulders above the Minnesota Timberwolves. After all, they were the sole Western Conference team with more than 60 wins to their name.
However, when it comes to the playoffs, there’s no guarantee that the regular-season record will have any substantial impact. It was proven when the Thunder were pushed to seven games in the second round.
Many believe that the Timberwolves have what it takes to eliminate the Thunder in the WCF. However, it wouldn’t happen without the trio of Anthony Edwards, Rudy Gobert, and Julius Randle bringing their A-game to the table.
32-year-old Gobert is currently playing in the ninth straight postseason appearance of his NBA career. There’s no doubt that Gobert is a defensive juggernaut, that’s evident from his four NBA Defensive Player of the Year trophies.
But when it comes to being a good scorer, Gobert fails the eye test. In the Game 1 blowout defeat vs the Thunder, Gobert had just 2 points.
Evidently, NBA fans went berserk and brutally trolled the 3x NBA All-Star on X.
“Rudy Gobert is really one of the worst offensive players in history,” a fan said. While another added: “Rudy Gobert might be the most overrated player in the association.
“Rudy Gobert plays offense like it’s his first time ever touching a basketball,” one frustrated fan stated.
A fan announced: “Rudy Gobert is horrific. Worst contract in the NBA.”
“Rudy Gobert needs to retire,” another furious fan chimed in.
“Rudy Gobert! Congrats on 3 rebounds in the WCF,” a fan mocked.
It’s impossible for a player to have an excellent game every night. But even then, fans expect someone like Gobert, who’s earning $43.8 million this season, not to be a complete offensive liability.
According to data provided by Sofascore, Gobert finished Game 1 with just 2 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist. He also shot just 1-of-3 from the field.

It was no surprise that head coach Chris Finch played him for just 21 minutes in the opening contest of the WCF.
Gobert’s struggles on the offensive end have been a repetitive pattern this postseason as he’s averaging fewer than 10.0 points per game for the first time in his playoff career.
